Rivian Sales Tracker

Methodology

Rivian reports official delivery totals only once a quarter. We publish a continuously updated monthly estimate in between, and we are explicit about how confident we are in each number.

How the estimate works

We add up Rivian vehicle registrations from the states that publish them, then scale that sum to a national figure using each state’s known share of Rivian’s national deliveries. The same inputs always produce the same number. No language model is involved in the estimate.

Why registrations, and why they lag

A registration is a public record created when a title is processed, which can trail the actual delivery by one to three months. So a month’s count only sets our estimate once it has settled; more recent months carry the latest settled level forward at lower confidence, rather than showing a false decline from data that is still filling in.

Confidence score

Every estimate carries a confidence score from 0 to 100. It is driven mainly by how much of Rivian’s national market the reporting states cover, and it falls when we are relying on a carried-forward level instead of a settled month.

From estimate to truth

Each number moves through three stages. We never overwrite an estimate; we store every version so the history stays auditable.

Estimated. The current best number for a month with incomplete data.

Revised. A higher quality source arrived and moved the number.

Reconciled. Official quarterly deliveries are known, so the monthly estimates are adjusted to match the quarter total and we record how far off we were.

Sources

We combine sources of different authority and preserve the meaning of each one. A registration is not the same thing as an official delivery. See the full source list for the current set and how we weight them.
